My wife & I have been running our cleaning business remotely for the past 3 years. In 2022 we moved from Ballarat to Sydney (10 hours away from our service area). Since then, our business has not caught fire & burnt to the ground (#winning!) - instead, it has grown!
Geographical freedom was always a key goal of ours when we took the business on back in 2017. As it turned out, this put us in a very fortunate position. In 2023 my dad had a major heart attack and as a family we decided to move closer to them to assist with his recovery and some health issues my mum was facing at the same time.
This really highlighted to us what we had built. In all of the logistics, decision making & planning there were a lot of questions for us to consider:
"Will this be the best move for the kids?"
"How long are we committing ourselves to this move for?"
"Will bringing 3 more grandkids onto the scene actually help? Are we helping?"
In spite of our efforts in moving to be closer to my parents, their health seems to have improved anyway 😉
